- Planning and overseeing the work of Buyers and Purchasing Agents.
- Establishing guidelines on how often the company gets price quotes for items, the number of bids to accept and which vendors to consider.
- Buying goods and services for the company. Discussing contracts.
- Evaluating quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services.
- Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures.
- Inspect the levels of business supplies and raw materials to identify shortages.
- Ensure product stock is adequate for all distribution channels and can cover direct demand from customers.
- Record daily deliveries and shipments to reconcile inventory.
- Using Softwares to monitor demand and document characteristics of inventory.
- Placing orders to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus.
- Analyzing data to anticipate future needs.
- Evaluating suppliers to achieve cost-effective deals and maintain trust relationships.
- Collaborating with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met.
- Reporting to upper management on sales, staff's performance, stock levels, issues etc.
